In his adolescent years, while growing up in Connecticut, Michael Littlejohn began drawing those things around him that where intriguing and aesthetically pleasing. It brought him a certain kind of serenity - a way to take pleasure in those small pensive moments in life we all quietly and silently experience, and to, indelibly, recreate.
A long time resident of Michigan, Littlejohn has tried to capture those moments of inspiration, thought, and emotion - moments that moved, a memory, a thought that provokes, or an image that celebrates or triumphs the spirit.
In creating his acrylic artwork, Littlejohn has learned and very much appreciates that many others share his memories, thoughts, celebrations and triumphs through their own experiences.
"...I take on each piece of work as an independent study lesson. Void of formal training, each piece is a catharsis, a lesson in independent study, to recreate those instances that touch, move or incite..."
Michael's work has been shown extensively nationally and internationally and several of his paintings have become part of permanent collections. Michael has also exhibited works in the Rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington D.C. Most recently, he has exhibited at Art Expo New York, 2007 and at Art Encounter in Las Vegas, NV.
"...I endeavor to grow as an artist. My goal is not to reach for perfection, but to enjoy the process rather than worry about results. In the process lies the chance to find something novel and fresh. Much like my vocation of counseling, I aspire to cajole, trigger, provoke, celebrate and triumph the spirit of many more people with my art work through the intrinsically human shared experience of life, and just simply living..."
